Webmail

You need no special settings to look at your mail online but you will always need to remember your user name and password.

For a full size version of each of the screen shots, click on the image.
log inThere is a link from every diocesan site to http://www.[diocese].anglican.org/webmail  You can either type that in directly or visit your diocesan site and find the link to “Webmail” in the Administration menu.

You should see a page, labelled “SquirrelMail”.  There are two boxes to fill in. Type in your full email address where is asks for your Name.  and put your password in the box below. Beware! – the CAPITAL and small letters do matter!  It is also important not to add a space after the password (as may happen if you copy and paste it).

Front pageThis should give you access to all of your email. To read an email, click on the blue underlined link.

Read MailWhile in that area, you can read your mail and reply to it using the link at the top of the message box.

ReplyWhen you reply, the original message is shown, preceded with ">" marks. You can delete any of these lines that are irrelevant - and you are stronly advised to do so. Keep your messages as short as reasonable by not including unnecessary material. See the How to Email help file for some more detail.

If you want to attach a file to sens with your email, then use the facility at the bottom of the screen. You need first of all to Browse to find the file on your computer that is to be attached. This will be displayed in the white box. Now select the Add button to add it to your email.

Note that this email system limits you to 2Mb file size. If you are posting to a mailing list, you will probably find that there is a smaller size limit imposed there.

OptionsBefore you use this system, there is at least one setting that you need to change. Find the toolbar near the top and click on Options.

Personal InformationFind the Personal Information link at the top left and follow that to a new screen. Almost all of the options here are optional but you really do need to fill in your Full Name. That means your emails will be seen as coming from John Doe. If you don't fill this in, they will be stamped with your email address: john.doe@nodiocese.anglican.org

When you are done, click on the Submit button. Return to your inbox by clicking in the left-hand menu bar.

There are many other things that you can do. Have a read through the excellent help section from the top menu to find out what they all do.
